Annie and Phil were married on a private property in the Byron Bay hinterland, and it’s one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever photographed. Rolling green hills, cows in the paddocks, and that hinterland light that makes everything look like it was art-directed.
They were relaxed and up for anything. We jumped in a 4WD and drove out across the property for portraits, weaving between the cows with the full hinterland panorama behind them. No styling brief could produce what that landscape gives you for free.
The ceremony was outdoors with a full moon rising over the hills. By evening, a gelato cart had been wheeled out, Thirsty Merc were on stage keeping the dance floor packed, and the sun was dropping behind some of the best views in the country. The whole night had that Byron energy — warm, loose, no one checking the time.
