Melross & Willows Estate is one of my favourite Kangaroo Valley venues to return to. When Emily and Nick told me they were getting married there in spring, I knew the property would deliver. What I didn’t expect was the weather. Rolling thunderstorms moved through the valley all day, dark clouds sitting low over the hills. Emily and Nick didn’t flinch. If anything, it gave the day a mood that sunshine wouldn’t have. The ceremony was under the barn’s covered roof, rain falling just beyond the edge. The reception moved into the hall with soft candlelight and considered details throughout. Sometimes the days that don’t go to plan are the ones that photograph best. The storm gave this wedding an atmosphere you can’t manufacture.
