Mel & Lachlan’s National Portrait Gallery Canberra Wedding

Mel and Lachlan’s wedding was one of those days that had been a long time coming. Split across two years thanks to the pandemic, when round two finally arrived, there was an energy in the room that only comes from a celebration that’s been truly earned. The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra was the setting – and honestly, it’s one of my favourite venues in the country to photograph. Clean lines, considered architecture, world-class art on the walls and that beautiful Canberra light flooding through. It’s a venue that suits couples with a genuine appreciation for creativity and design, which Mel and Lachlan absolutely have in spades. It was an honour to be there for both chapters of their story.

Canberra doesn’t get nearly enough credit as a wedding destination. The National Portrait Gallery in particular is stunning – that combination of architecture, art and open space makes for images that feel genuinely different.

If you’re planning a Canberra wedding or looking for a Sydney photographer willing to travel, I’d love to hear from you.
