Tamika got ready at The Langham with her dog Wesley in tow. The Langham is one of the few dog-friendly hotels in the city, and having Wesley there brought an ease to the morning that no amount of planning could manufacture.
The ceremony and reception were at Bennelong, inside the Opera House. The styling worked with the architecture rather than against it, which is rare. So often venues get dressed in a way that fights the room. Here, everything felt considered and restrained, and the space did most of the work.
The group was small. The food was the famous Bennelong menu, and they were generous enough to give me a seat at the table. That says a lot about who Tamika and Joe are. No fuss, no hierarchy between guests and vendors. Just good people who wanted everyone around them to be part of the day.
I still speak to them. Some couples you photograph and move on. Others stay in your life. Tamika and Joe are the second kind.
